Grixis is kind of a meme, but still fairly strong. Jeskai is still top of the pile, but significantly weakened since brainstorm and memory lapse bans which is part of the reason why all the tribal decks are playable I think. There's a lot of variation.Ĭontrol idk too much about. Zombies and Vampires aren't tier 1 and likely never will be, but if you know your match ups you'll do well with them, etc. Humans is a tier 1 deck, merfolk does pretty well and has 12 lords (and ] is even main deck CoCo hate!). You'll almost certainly have some level of success building tribal aggro, especially if ] is involved. Boros arcanist lists exist too, often focusing on the Strixhaven magecraft mechanic. If you like recasting spells, well ] is of course the namesake of Rakdos Arcanist, but I've had some good Bo1 success making a Gruul list with ] and ], buffing the whole team and dealing absurd damage turn 4-5. You can cut a colour entirely and go for golgari citadel, have a more aggressive rakdos variant that can run as low as 17 lands (Ashlizzle made a version like this). Sure, the best sacrifice based deck is Jund food, but there's a lot of tinkering you can do to "brew" what you want out of it. Well you can't brew anything you want, because you do have to be able to survive those early turns against very strong decks, but there's a lot of variation. Or is the meta in Historic ranked at a point where you can brew anything you like and not get completely destroyed in three turns? It’s saga says to 1) discard ur hand 2) draw 2 extra cards next turn 3) any red source damage done this turn does 2 extra.įanatical Firebrand is great, don’t use him for sacrifice damage until he gets targeted, or there are other creatures on the field (don’t shock them, use him to kill them) Use the flame of keld when you use all your spells and are top decking (it lets you draw extra and whatever you get gets more damage next turn). I usually will mulligan if I don’t get a Soul Scar or a thermo-alchemist. However if you are low on them, I would cut Den of the Bugbear. Even during tough ones like Eldraine I could do it fairly easily, even with jank sometimes. I've ALWAYS been able to get to Mythic with off meta decks. I actually love a lot of the cards in this set but I've never hated a limited draft more because 2 colors are so ridiculously dominating (and the cards that dominate are COMMONS). These 3 decks have sapped all the fun out of standard and limited is also the worst draft I've ever experienced. I don't remember a stronger control aspect to an aggro deck.ever. this deck blows the old mono white out of the water. Whether its paladin class or the shield taxing you, spellbinder taxing you and revealing your hand, cathar apparition exiling any blockers, Reidane taxing you. What makea THIS deck so annoying and unfun to olay aginst is that they have the best aggro deck combined with an amazing control aspect. Forget the codespell version, these new versions with Adeline and maul are so much better. You can beat them but more often than not no matter how well you play they've always got yet another AMAZING card they're waiting to play. Their removal is the cheapest and arguably best in the game. Their 5 drop is the best planeswalker in the game. Their 4 drop is the best 4 drop in the game. Mono Green? Their 2 drop is better than any creature you have. Epiphany never should have been printed and the delay, delay, draw, delay, draw, delay win with 4 to 8 turns style of play is one of the worst things to ever hit this game. It's not fun anymore and it's solely because of the 3 main meta decks. I really can't think of a time I just didn't want to play Magic.
